About Spring Branch

Spring Branch is a district within Houston located in Harris County, Texas. The community has a noticeable Hispanic and Korean American population and was settled by Karl Kolbe, a religious German dairy farmer.

Quick Facts:

A district tucked into Houston, Spring Branch is an ethnically diverse, local-infused treasure wrapped within a suburban body. This slightly eclectic district is the epitome of what America has to offer: a melting pot full of small businesses and community.

A Slice of the American Landscape

All are welcome in Spring Branch. Founded as a religious German settlement back in 1830, the district now touts booming Korean and Hispanic communities, meaning old school ethnic restaurants and cultural gems are the norm. With great family-owned Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Greek, Latin American, Mexican and even Eastern European eateries, Houstonites converge on this enclave during lunch and dinner hours in search of authentic cooking. Add that to the public libraries, playgrounds, golf courses, and hiking and biking trails, you're truly in the best of America.

What Else is Cooking in Spring Branch

A community of entrepreneurs and small business owners are everywhere here, as the main drag is home to very few chains. The Spring Branch School district is independent of Houston’s school district, and there is plenty of education to go around.  Spring Branch has more private elementary schools than public, and of course middle and high schools. There's even an offshoot of Northwest College in Spring Branch, operated by the Houston Community College System. Finally, an abundance of small bayous run through Spring Branch interwoven with lovely little walking paths.

And for a fun fact, Spring Branch was once noted to be a "thrift-store nirvana" in the Houston Press. Not a bad way to pass an afternoon.
